ABOUT OUR CLASSES
Our one day class is designed to give an all-around approach to colour and composition. These are the important elements that will make a piece of art 'hang together'.
Michael is one of the best known tutors on making sourdough bread. In those classes, we demystify the process bringing it down to the fundamentals. We have learnt that is what people want. That is our approach for the art class. Making it simple. We have ample printed material to illustrate the mechanics, and then we use the very popular Gelli Plate printing process with acrylic paint to apply the concepts. Gelli plate printing is quick and immediate, we are after prompt results to test the principles.
Our aim is to send you home with a number of paintings worthy of putting on the wall.

MICHAEL STOREY
Michael has taught art and bronze casting techniques for more than thirty years, from the University level to private individual advice. He has also been chairman of a well regarded art society in the USA.
For the last ten years of his casting activity, the Wykham Gallery in Stockbridge, Hampshire, UK has represented his work.
COLOUR CARDS ensure a 'guaranteed' result
In the music industry, musicians use chord progressions that are timeless, tried and tested. From there they frame their own lyrics to make their own song. Colour is the equivalent with painting, Artist for centuries, have worked out a pallet that 'works' regardless. Rather than start from scratch with a colour wheel (which we do explain), we borrow pallets from proven colour maestros. Almost without exception, once you have a colour palette that works, you can throw it together any way you like and it will work.
So, we have pre printed colour combinations worked out for you.
The example on the left demonstrates the same colours from a Degas, recombined 'any how'. And it works!

Something you can be proud of…
Gelli plates, especially larger ones, are regarded as quite expensive. Don't worry; we have the recipe to make them yourself for a very reasonable cost (if you want to pursue Gelli plate printing).
